US President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to elect a new president, saying Volodymyr Zelenskyy should negotiate a deal with Russia to bring the conflict to a close.
Trump also held responsible Zelenskyy for rising diesel prices in the United States, warning Kyiv to stop striking Russian oil refineries he argues could deliver American fuel.
The comments came on 10 October 2026, the same day Britain's Prime Minister spoke separately by phone with Zelenskyy, according to the UK government.
